Thank you for your interest in participating in this program! As a visiting lecturer, you will play a critical role in implementing this curriculum. If selected as a visiting lecturer, you will travel to Karachi, Pakistan for one month to work in close partnership with local faculty. The initial course will run from July 2018-June 2019. Specific activities while in-country will include:
- Preparing and delivering lectures and simulation sessions at weekly didactics
- Clinically supervising trainee physicians in the Indus Hospital Emergency Department for a minimum of 5-6 8-hour shifts per week. Visiting faculty will only work day shifts
- Filling out evaluations of trainees prior to departure from Pakistan
Faculty Requirements:
- Fellow or Faculty in Emergency Medicine (board eligible or board certified), with valid license to practice medicine
- Experience and interest in medical education
- Ability to travel for one month (four weeks)
- Completed application
- Participation in at least two pre-departure conference calls and one follow up conference call
- Assistance with development/editing of lectures and simulation cases prior to departure
- Successful application for Pakistan visa at least THREE months prior to travel
Features:
- Room and board and transportation in Pakistan. Participants will stay in a secure guest-house managed by the program
- There is limited funding to support reimbursement for Pakistan visa, round-trip economy/coach airfare for participants whose institutions cannot support travel
